Commemoration of National Science Day 2020
(28th February 2020)

Every year, on 28th February, National Science Day is commemorated to marks the discovery of the Raman scattering by the Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman on February 28 in 1928.

A Popular Science Lecture and a one day Teacher Training workshop will be organized on this occasion.The Popular Science Lecture on the topic “Quantum: The next “Psi”entific Frontier” will be delivered by Prof. DR. KRISHNA THYAGARAJAN, Department of Physics, Bennett University. Dr Thyagarajan is also recipient of the “Fiber Optic Person of the Year 1997” award and Teaching Excellence Award from IIT Delhi.He has written many engineering books also.

The One day Teacher Training Workshop “Digi Abhyaas” in collaboration with Learning Link foundation will be organised which will be focused on proper utilisation of Technologies in schools.

Vigyan Samagam 2020
(21st January – 20th March 2020)

Vigyan Samagam is a multi-venue mega-science exhibition that brings several collaborative mega-science projects under one roof. Aiming to bring mega-science one step closer to the society, it showcases India’s contribution to some of the biggest international collaborations on fundamental science and research, and provides a common interactive platform for mega-science activities, industry, academia and institutions. The exhibition also presents fundamental science and research as a strong career options for the youngsters.

Following are the Mega-Science collaborations which have been showcased individually in Vigyan Samagam.

  • European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)
  • Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR)
  • India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO)
  • International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)
  • Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO)
  • Square Kilometre Array (SKA)
  • Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT)

The exhibition is a joint venture of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Department of Science and Technology (DST) and National Council of Science Museums (NCSM).

Various activities such as lectures, quizzes, live demonstrations, interactive sessions and career prospects will be organised during the exhibition. Please keep a watch for announcements.
